Now that my other websites have been retired, I will gradually add relevant material here. This site remains focused on co-creation, community art and cultural democracy, but its range will broaden from the book with which it shares a title. One example of that is culture in development, where I’ve worked in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Latin America and elsewhere. Not all that work is public, but I’ll add what is to this site.
I’ll begin with a series of Reflection Papers published in 2020 by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Originally conceived as short briefings for diplomatic staff, they cover a range of subjects, including cultural rights, freedom of expression, democratic participation, social inclusion, creative industries, peace-building and health. The papers were published in a single booklet which can be downloaded in several languages here.

There’s more information about SDC’s pioneering Percent for Culture Policy on the project page., as well as a further reflection on how the Covid-19 pandemic affected artists in the Global South, who could not count even on the patchy support their peers received in richer countries.
