The field of community theatre, even in the UK, is vast so this page does no more than point some of the organisations that I have met in the context of this project.
Community theatre companies in Britain
- acta community theatre (UK) – ‘Creates a place where everyone’s story matters, where individual opinions and experiences count, and are valued by others. We enable communities to share their stories, and engage audiences who rarely attend theatre.’
- Cardboard Citizens (UK) – ‘Tells stories that need to be told. Stories from other worlds, stories that help their tellers get a handle on their lives.’
- Excavate (UK) – ‘Excavate make exciting and ambitious events for, with, and in the heart of communities, exploring local and global narratives and the connections that lie in-between.‘
- London Bubble (UK) – Established more than 40 years ago, Bubble has evolved into a complex social enterprise developing theatre experiences which might best be described as ‘relational’ to people in south London.
