Why a new site?

Creating a separate site for the book I’m working on has sometimes seemed a mistake. After all, A Selfless Art is intended to be a companion to A Restless Art, so it would be natural to write about it here. This site also receives far more visitors: it will take years for the new one to find its readership. Still, I persist because I feel there’s so much material here that there is no room for more – not literally, of course, but in my mind. I want somewhere quiet to think, which is why A Selfless Art is being kept simple, at least for now: no project reports, downloads or indeed anything I’ve done before, just updates on the new book’s slow evolution.

That decision does mean that I will post less here, and only about things that relate to the ideas in A Restless Art. On the other hand, I’d like to encourage you to go to A Selfless Art if you’re interested in what I’m now thinking about. I want to explore the practice of co-creation much more closely than I have before. Today I posted the first of what might be several reflections on the act of listening. Here’s a link to that post:

PS In the past few weeks I have had many visitors from China, and they now make up more than half the daily total. I’m curious to know how such things happen and how co-creation is practiced in the People’s Republic, though I expect both subjects will remain mysterious to me. Still, if you are among those new readers, welcome: I hope you find something of interest here.
