I’ve been involved in co-creation projects for 45 years and writing about them for almost as long, A Selfless Art stands on some deep and solid foundations. Because they have been appropriated by other interests, and because the world changes, it is also necessary to build new bases on which to work. This page will gather some of my past work on community art, especially if it has contributed to my thinking about co-creation.

Welcome

I do many things – community art and co-creation, writing, research, training, facilitation, talks and more. I have worked on community projects in many countries, and for NGOs, foundations and international bodies. A Restless Art, which looks at the history, theory and practice of participatory art, was published in 2019. A Selfless Art, which I’m working on now, is the yin to its yang, It describes my changing ideas about the value of co-creation in an uncertain, interdependent and increasingly dangerous world.
